Post-Korean War production M1 Garand by Harrington & Richardson...this Garand was manufactured at H&R's Worcester factory under contract with the Department of Defense and issued into service with the US military. A fine example of a first block H&R rifle, the gun appears to have seen no rebuild or restoration, and-apart from a period correct Springfield bolt-appears to be composed entirely of H&R components, including the furniture and a 5-54 dated H&R barrel. Having standard features, the finish displays honest, even wear, with the barrel retaining its hallmark factory dark blue manganese phosphate finish, the parkerized surfaces of the receiver having softened to a browninsh-tinged hue from contact with lubricant. Of particular interest to the collector-the stock has an impressive original DoD 'Postage Stamp' cartouche on the left of the stock beneath the receiver, as well as a 'Circle/P' firing proof on the grip, and none of the markings on wood or metal display any evidence of buffing. Mechanically perfect, the bore is near-mint and this non-import marked H&R M1 Garand would be an excellent addition to the shooter's battery or any advanced military collection.
